Considering the scale of this movie and the number of eyes on it, Disney really has done an admirable job keeping the major details under wraps, and the trailers so far have been heavy on imagery and hints but light on solid plot details. Now that this poster is out in the wild, there will barely be time for the hype to die down before the third trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens arrives tomorrow, hopefully bringing with it plenty of new footage to pore over. UPDATE: Lucasfilm rep Matt Martin has confirmed that this is not a Drew Struzan poster, though it seems to have been inspired by his art style. We're still waiting to find out officially whether or not the poster was created by Struzan. And if that's not a new Death Star in the background, then it's definitely not a moon. Dominating the poster are Kylo Ren, Rey and and Finn, while at the bottom of the artwork is Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie) and an array of stormtroopers. The film opened by breaking domestic records for opening day and weekend, later becoming the fastest release ever to earn 1 billion worldwide. There are a lot of characters on this poster, though notably Luke Skywalker is not among them, despite both Han Solo and Princess Leia appearing side-by-side and right in the center. Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the first Star Wars film of the Disney era, was clearly a historic box office triumph going back to its release last December.
